Anne Norton MA Vet MB MRCVS

Anne Norton MA Vet MB MRCVS

Director and Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated as a Veterinary Surgeon from Cambridge Vet School in 1995 and worked in mixed practice in Hampshire and the Cotswolds before moving to North Yorkshire in 2000. Since then, I have focused soley on small animals and enjoy the challenges and variety that brings.

Outside of work, I am a keen runner, play the violin and love Pilates!

Since we opened the practice in 2021, I have loved building relationships with all of our clients and their pets and becoming part of the community.

Isabella de Berardinis DVM MRCVS

Isabella de Berardinis DVM MRCVS

Director and Veterinary Surgeon

Hi! I am Isabella and I am Italian, from Rome.

I graduated from the University of Perugia in 2006 and since then I have been travelling around the world working in different countries, from the UK to Jordan and Syria. The first part of my professional career has been manly focused on equine stud work. I have then finally moved to North Yorkshire with my family in 2017, and since then I have mainly focused on small animals.

I have keen interest in dog and cat medicine and I always strive to treat animals to gold standard. At the same time I feel that one of the most important qualities in a vet is listening and being sympathetic to people and animals, so I always treat pets as if they were my own.

When not at work I love cooking (….of course, I am Italian!) and walking with my husband Federico and my daughter Alice in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside .

I have two very naughty cats called Nacho Cheese and Taco Beans!

Julian Norton

Julian Norton

Director and Veterinary Surgeon

I’ve been practising as a vet for 25 years and most of this time working in Thirsk, a town I’ve made my home.

I’ve spent time working in the North of Scotland, the Cotswolds, a small animal emergency hospital in Pennsylvania, as well as other towns in Yorkshire.

In 2019 I established a new practice in Wetherby – Sandbeck Vets with old friends.

In March 2021 we opened Thirsk Veterinary Centre alongside Anne and Isabella and it has been great to re establish independent in Thirsk.

I gained a GP certificate in small animal practice in 2007 and I’m currently studying towards an extra qualification in Ophthamology.

My name is Emma, I graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2017, and spent 5 years working in mixed practice before deciding I wanted to spend time working with small animals. I enjoy the variety in work, especially surgery.

Outside of work I live with my cat Tony, and spend my free time kickboxing, hiking and occasionally running.

senior registered Veterinary Nurse

I have been in practice since I was 16 and I love being a Registered Veterinary Nurse.

I will always endeavour to provide the best possible care for your pets and look after them like my own. I know how important our little members of the family are.

I have worked in both general practice and referral and I enjoy all aspects of nursing. Including consultations, especially puppy checks, inpatient care and clinical coaching. I have loved helping to set up Thirsk Veterinary Centre and watching the practice grow from the start.

I have had a baby girl in October 2021 and absolutely love being a mum. I have one dog at home – a deaf white miniature schnauzer called Bennie, he is my little shadow!

Hi I’m Amy, I have recently qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse, but I have been in veterinary practice since I was 18. I love giving your pets the care and the attention they need to feel better. I have a passion for inpatient care and surgery.

I live and work on a farm in my spare time, I have my own flock of sheep and love lambing time. I have a Border Terrier, called Ruby, and 3 Border Collies: Jill, Tip and Ned. I recently lost my 15 year old Jack Russel called Max. I enjoy rehabilitating waifs and strays. Recently I have rescued 6 kittens and a hedgehog that was then released into the wild.

I have been a Veterinary receptionist for 4 years now, having previously been an Administrator for many many, years. However, now I cannot imagine not working with animals.

I did have a bit of fun in my twenties as a Holiday Rep across Europe . Then settled down and opened my own Delicatessen shop, selling over 50 different cheeses, with an added bonus of having a wine cellar.

I live close to Stokesley with 2 dogs . Princess Lily and Crazy Daisy, as well as 2 rescue cats.  Gorgeous George and The Boss Pip , along with my husband Lawrence.

Catherine Bowes

Catherine Bowes

Receptionist

I have worked in Veterinary Practice since 1996. I started at a mixed practice in Thirsk where I was initially employed within a nursing role. However, following a back injury I found myself on reception which I soon discovered I loved.

I followed this with a move to another local mixed practice where I worked for almost four years and was fortunate enough to gain a lot of invaluable experience.

I am really happy to be returning to Thirsk and welcoming some old friends and new ones too.

I live on a farm at the foot of the North York Moors National Park with my husband Jonathan and our two children Anna and Tom. As well as the farm animals we share our home with a laid-back Labrador called Paddington, a crazy Spaniel called Snoopdog, five hens and a retired racehorse.

In my free time I love cycling and dog walking, reading and socialising with friends

Receptionist

I have lived in North Yorkshire since university and I have worked in NHS Reception and Pharmacy roles ever since. After qualifying in Canine Care, shortly before the pandemic,  I decided to switch to working with animals.  I spent 3 years dog walking before joining Thirsk Veterinary Centre in 2022.

In my spare time I volunteer with SOS Italian Setters assessing potential adopters for often abused  and abandoned dogs. I live in Dalton with my 2 Labradors and 2 rescued Setters.
